The first time my neighbor Priya invited my husband and me for dinner to her place, I immediately accepted and said “Sure, I would love to have dinner with you guys. Can I bring something? What would you like me to bring?” Priya hesitatingly said, “Well, umm, If it isn’t a problem, Please get me some appetizers…I don't think I will have enough time on hands to prepare…She looked relieved when I said I would get some chicken 65 and Vegetable Manchuria. Obviously, my neighbor wasn’t comfortable asking for help, even when I offered to get a dish... Priya is not alone. I could connect with her. I bet you too could. We normally don’t like to bother people... Why ask for a favour. Why trouble others. and even if we ask for help, we feel restless until we return the favour... We hesitate... The story doesn’t end here.. All you need to realize is that people are willing to help, so all you have to do is ask... Infect people have this profound urge to do some wonderful random acts of kindness. They love helping so much that, sometimes if you decline their help, they will get disappointed. Offering support to someone who is in dire need can bring immense joy and satisfaction not only into the lives of those that need it most, but can also enrich the lives of the giver as well. Random acts of kindness take place every day but, in the hustle and bustle of life, we may not even realize the tremendous impact our small acts of kindness create. It can have a ripple effect. Just a smile directed at a stranger, a genuine compliment given to a colleague, or a kind gesture can send ripples that truly have a positive far reaching effect on the society in which we live. So, next time don’t think twice. So leave all your inhibitions aside and ask for help. 29/06/10 07:23 pm, by Rashmi ![]() Categories: Articles Comment
